I have the new red one - it's absolutely identical to the original white one, triggers, sticks, buttons all feel the same. The best tools are a cotton swab and high-concentrate isopropyl alcohol. You would think Sony would opt for the exact same curve though so people don't winge, so it's probably just us / new controller / needs breaking in. I just got a red one but haven't opened it yet. This leaves residue all over your controller. These controllers are cheaper to produce up-front, but more expensive to fix when they fail. Suffice to say, these things could be a lot easier to fix. Have a new white and a new black controller.
I have a black one, it feels the same as the white one. Right now I'm thinking either FN on PS5 or the DualSense itself has a different response curve (I'm using expo). My movement and turning in general feels super slow as a result of the sticks. FWIW, the Elite controller lets you adjust the tension. One of my white controllers has a very tiny drift on the right analog stick. The higher the concentration, the less water it contains, meaning a lower chance of water-damage to the internal circuitry. Sticks do seem to be a little stiffer on the black. I wonder if this is an actual hardware change that might exist to combat stick drift (as higher tension sticks do tend to drift less), or just a coincidence?
